Meyer, Unkovic & Scott attorney Lance Woods was recently named by the National Bar Association (NBA) as one of this year’s “40 Under 40” award recipients.
The NBA’s annual awards “recognizes the nation’s top lawyers under 40 who exemplify a broad range of high achievement, including innovation, vision, leadership, and legal and community involvement.”
Mr. Woods is a member of the firm’s Real Estate & Lending and Corporate & Business Law practice groups, handling matters that deal with the acquisition, disposition, development, and leasing of real estate, commercial lending and mergers and acquisitions. He is also a member of Meyer, Unkovic & Scott’s Diversity Committee and provides pro bono counsel through the Landlord Tennant Project, a program operated in conjunction with Neighborhood Legal Services and the Allegheny County Bar Foundation that assists individuals who have been denied Section 8 or public housing.
In addition, Mr. Woods is an active participant in the Veterans Treatment Court – a collaboration of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania, the United States Attorney’s Office, the Federal Public Defender’s Office, the U.S. Office of Probation and Pre-trial Services, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The goal of the court is to ensure that qualified veterans in the federal justice system receive the help they need to successfully reintegrate into society.
Prior to pursuing a legal career Mr. Woods served for eight years in the U.S. Army, deploying to both Iraq and Afghanistan.
