We honor the memory of our partner, friend, and mentor, Dick Kotarba. By all counts, he was a remarkable individual whose impact on our lives and our profession has been both profound and enduring. He was a mentor to many of us in the firm, as well as outside of the firm, a cherished friend and, above all, a caring and compassionate human being.
In memory of a distinguished lawyer, partner, mentor and friend
Richard G. Kotarba
July 5, 1941 – July 26, 2024
Dick was a pillar of excellence in his law practice and in the community. With a sharp legal mind, an unwavering commitment to justice, and a deep understanding of the law, the benchmark he set was one many of us aspire to reach. His contributions to our firm are immeasurable, from his handling of complicated construction matters to mentoring young associates, always with an eye toward the highest standards of ethical practice.
As a mentor, Dick was nothing short of extraordinary. He believed in nurturing talent – of both attorneys and staff – and always offered guidance with patience and wisdom. Dick took the time to know everyone, to understand their strengths and challenges, and to help them navigate not just their careers, but their lives.
A friend to many, Dick was always a source of support, laughter, and kindness. He made everyone feel valued and was always present, engaged, and genuinely caring.
As we remember Dick, we are reminded of the indelible mark he left on our firm, our profession, and our hearts. We will honor him by continuing his deep passion for the law, by mentoring others as he mentored us, and by striving to be the kind of person he was—dedicated, compassionate, and unwavering in the pursuit of excellence.
