Meyer, Unkovic & Scott is pleased to announce that Matthew J. Carl has joined the firm as Counsel in the firm’s Corporate & Business Law, Real Estate, and Private Clients Groups.
His diverse practice experience assists clients on general corporate and commercial matters, including choice of entity issues, mergers and acquisitions, finance, management and contracting. His real estate work includes regularly negotiating and closing real estate and commercial transactions. In his estate planning practice, he guides his clients in developing estate-planning objectives from business succession, federal estate and Pennsylvania inheritance tax issues, protection of family assets, charitable transfers, and wills and trusts providing for minors and individuals with special needs.
Matt received his B.A. from the University of Virginia in 1979 and his J.D. from University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1982.
He is active in the American, Pennsylvania, and Allegheny County Bar Associations. He previously served as Chairman of the Pennsylvania Bar Association Committee for Individuals with Disabilities and has participated in the drafting of Pennsylvania Guardianship and Living Wills Statutes. In addition, he was an adjunct professor at Duquesne University Paralegal Institute in Business Entities and Estate Planning. He has spoken at multiple seminars on topics of estate planning and administration, asset protection, real estate title and business organizations. He is a member of the University of Virginia Club of Pittsburgh and has served as Section Chair for the Western Pennsylvania Jefferson Scholarship Selection Committee.
