Pittsburgh, PA, June 21, 2023 – Meyer, Unkovic & Scott is pleased to announce that Alan K. Sable and Amy E. Sable have joined the firm. Alan joins the Real Estate & Lending Practice Group as a Partner and Amy joins the Corporate & Business Law Practice Group as a Partner.
Prior to joining the firm, Alan and Amy founded Sable and Sable, LLC, a successful boutique law firm that counseled clients in a wide variety of commercial real estate and business law matters for over seven years. Previously, Alan was a partner at Reed Smith LLP and Amy worked as an in-house attorney for Development Dimensions International, Inc.
Alan and Amy bring a wealth of legal experience and knowledge to the firm. That experience, combined with a client-focused approach where understanding the nuances of each client’s business and goals is paramount, results in successful outcomes from both a legal and business perspective.
Alan has over 31 years of experience offering legal advice in all areas of commercial real estate law, including purchases and sales of office, retail, multifamily, and affordable housing properties; office and retail leasing transactions; real estate development transactions, including obtaining land use and zoning approvals and other entitlements; real estate financing transactions including affordable housing transactions under various HUD programs; distressed real estate matters; and commercial real estate receivership matters. Alan is often sought after for advice on realty transfer taxes, real estate transaction structuring, and real estate title matters. Alan is also a licensed title insurance agent and has served as an expert witness on real estate title matters in federal and state court litigation matters.
“Alan is a well-known, well-respected, and smart commercial real estate practitioner. He is truly a subject matter expert in all aspects of real estate; many of our lawyers have worked with Alan on matters going back to his Reed Smith days,” says W. Grant Scott, Chair of the Real Estate & Lending Group at Meyer Unkovic & Scott. “His total understanding of real estate – including land use and zoning, acquisition and development – and his significant leasing experience, is quite impressive. We are thrilled to have him join us and are pleased to be able to add Alan’s expertise for our clients.”
A seasoned professional with nearly 30 years of experience, Amy counsels clients across multiple practice areas. While primarily focused on providing legal advice to small and mid-sized privately held businesses in all areas of corporate law, commercial business transactions, contract law and employment law, Amy also provides legal advice with respect to oil and gas matters and acts as special counsel to municipal clients with respect to ordinance drafting and enactment.
“Amy’s background as a business owner, as an associate at an Am Law 100 firm, as in-house counsel to a global corporation and as borough council president in Franklin Park for many years has uniquely qualified her to represent clients facing a broad range of legal issues. Her expertise complements Meyer, Unkovic & Scott’s practice areas and we know that our clients will benefit greatly from her knowledge,” says Chris Smith, the Managing Partner of Meyer, Unkovic & Scott.
