MUS Attorney Beth Slagle Joins 412 Food Rescue Board of Directors

Meyer, Unkovic & Scott today announced that attorney Beth Slagle has joined the 412 Food Rescue board of directors as board member and treasurer.

412 Food Rescue is a nonprofit organization that aims to improve health and sustainability by fighting hunger and reducing food waste in the community. The organization works with food retailers, wholesalers, restaurants, caterers, universities and other food providers to collect healthy food that would otherwise be discarded and distribute it to people in need.

Beth Slagle is a business attorney at Meyer, Unkovic & Scott LLP where she focuses her practice primarily on business disputes, insurance coverage and employment law. In addition to working with businesses and individuals, she also represents a number of “serial entrepreneurs” and actively assists with business and operational issues. Slagle is the chair of the Insurance Coverage Litigation Group and chair of the Diversity Committee.

Best Lawyers named Slagle in the area of insurance coverage for 2010-2014 and in the area of commercial litigation for 2013-2014. Pennsylvania Super Lawyers recognized her four years in a row from 2008 to 2011. She is a member of the Allegheny County Bar Foundation Fellows and is AV®rated by Martindale-Hubbell. In 2009, the Women & Girls Foundation honored Slagle at the “Art of Justice: Women Shaping the Law” event, and in 2008, the YWCA of Greater Pittsburgh selected her as a “Tribute to Women” awardee. In 2005, Slagle was a finalist for the ATHENA Award, and the previous year, the Pittsburgh Business Times recognized her as a “Fast Tracker.”

In 2005, Slagle founded, BizChicks, a non-profit focused on providing education, guidance and resources to professional women in a number of different areas, including business planning, coaching, health & wellness. Six years later, she expanded with BizChicks Online, an online magazine for business women, written by women and for women. In addition to numerous other non-profit and board commitments, Slagle was the founding chair of the board of directors for Dress for Success Pittsburgh and serves on the advisory council of Chatham University’s Center for Women’s Entrepreneurship.

Slagle, a North Hills resident, graduated in 1987 from Youngstown State University, where she majored in finance and received a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration. In 1990, she received her Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
