Foreign companies and individuals attempting to enter the United States for the first time will face any number of legal challenges. How will U.S. immigration laws affect my business or employees? Under what circumstances may an agent or distributor be terminated? How should a product be labeled to minimize product liability risks? What employment practices that are acceptable in a foreign country are unacceptable in the U.S.?
In conjunction with the Firm’s other groups, the International Law & Immigration Group works on planning and problem solving in business transactions for foreign individuals and companies seeking to do business in the United States. These transactions often involve joint ventures, franchises, corporations, or distributions and agency networks, and real estate acquisitions. Transactions frequently involve issues in sections of labor, employment, securities, immigration, bankruptcy, tax, real estate, commercial, and environmental laws.
